Bicycles in a Row – San Diego, Canvas Giclée by RD Riccoboni

I was walking in my neighborhood and came upon this colorful scene. Vivid beach cruisers lean in a sun-splashed row against the warm brick of a San Diego bicycle shop in Bicycles in a Row. I'm honored that this painting won the American Art Award for Best in Still Life, 2015. I wanted the green, red, orange, and yellow frames to shimmer with light and energy, a joyful tribute to California's outdoor spirit and the color-drenched streets of San Diego.

I painted it in my impressionist style so every spoke and handlebar would feel like it's moving. When you walk past it an unexpected thing happened, the wheels seem to turn towards you. It's become one of my most celebrated works, and collectors keep coming back to it.
