Artwork Authentication of RD Riccoboni Works

This service is exclusively for artwork by RD Riccoboni. Requests to authenticate work by other artists are not accepted.

I authenticate my own past work for a $125 administrative fee per piece. I am not an appraiser. This service confirms whether a piece is my work; it does not provide a valuation. The original sale price may differ from a later price set by a gallery, auction house, or private sale.

Before you request authentication

• Does the artwork have visible surface texture, such as brushstrokes or paint ridges?
• If it is on canvas, is there writing on the back, such as a title or signature?
• Is there a barcode on the canvas or on the back of the piece?
• Are you a dealer, auction house, appraiser, or insurer?
• Are you looking for research or an in-person inspection?
• Can you share how you acquired the piece and what you paid for it?

How authentication works

1. Request: After you purchase, I’ll email you at the address provided at checkout with instructions for sending clear photos of the front, back, signature, and any labels, along with receipts or provenance you have. Please include a description of the piece. I can also register it in my catalogue at this stage.
2. Records check: I compare the piece with my own inventory records, including photos, dates, titles, and buyers.
3. Letter: If I confirm the piece as my work, I issue a signed letter. I do not issue a Certificate of Authenticity; that should come from the gallery you purchased the piece through. A signed letter can be provided as a physical letter or PDF.
4. In-person review, if needed: Uncertain cases, such as possible copies or altered pieces, may require an appointment at my studio. The in-person review costs an additional $350, invoiced separately. I do not travel for evaluations.

Fee and turnaround

The $125 administrative fee is due when you submit your request and is non-refundable. Please allow up to 10 business days for authentication after payment is received.

What the letter confirms

The letter confirms whether the piece is my original work or a licensed reproduction. It is not an appraisal and does not state monetary value.

Please note

• I do not accept shipped artwork or reproduction items for autographing.
• I license images of my work to official art production companies. Their canvas prints and other reproductions are not originals.
